A certain diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks conveys that [the Saudi King would like the United States to attack Iran's nuclear facilities]. It is also noted that other Arabic national leaders have expressed the same sentiments. This was taken by some as proof that Iran is indeed a destabilizing influence in the region, and that Israel is not alone nor paranoid in their concerns about Iran's nuclear program.
However, as Noam Chomsky and others have pointed out, this is the view of the monarchs and dictators of the Arab world. What about public opinion of the people of the Arab world? 57% think it would be beneficial for Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, and Israel is regarded as the greatest threat.
It doesn't take much imagination to figure out why Arab monarchs and dictators oppose the actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which came into being after a popular revolution ousted a dictatorship.
